We have found good local tapas bars and cellar restaurants in Fuengirola, Benelmadena and Marbella whilst Fuengirola and Torremolinos come alive at night.
Marbella is a very smart town, and the picturesque port of Puerto Banus is the playground of the rich and famous. The charming little beachside village of La Cala is very unspoilt. The weekly markets, too, deserve a visit. They sell everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to local pottery, jewellery, linen and clothes: particularly good and cheap is ladies underwear. Yet you are still only a few paces away from buzzing bars and nightlife if you want it. We think this part of Spain has something for everyone.
